5 Best Korean Dramas From 2014

Best Korean Dramas 2014

Let’s check what are the best Korean dramas from 2014 here.

The K-dramas on my list are the ones I most enjoyed watching and that I would recommend for you to watch as well.

Here it is. This is, in my opinion, the list of the best Korean dramas from 2014.

Birth of a Beauty Korean Drama 2014

1. Birth Of A Beauty

Genre: Comedy, Melodrama, Romance
Number of Episodes: 21
Original Network: SBS
Original Air Dates: November 2014 to January 2015
Lead Stars: Joo Sang-wook, Han Ye-seul
Average Nationwide Viewership Rating: Unknown
My Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars

PROs

  • There are bits of funny moments across the whole series.
  • The 2nd half of the series seems to be more interesting and entertaining.
  • Joo Sang-Wook is one of my favorite Korean male actors.
  • Ends happily. This is one of my top reasons why I watch and recommend this Korean drama.

CONs

  • It’s exhausting and frustrating to watch the female lead character and the grandmother of the male lead character being tricked by other characters in the drama.

I’m still torn whether to give Birth of a Beauty 3 or 4 stars. In the end, I decided to give it a 3.

It’s just that there are other Korean dramas from 2014 that you should watch first.

And by the time you’ve gone through all the others, new K-dramas for 2015 may have already started.

If you’re a hardcore K-drama viewer, and you do not have anything else pending on your list, you should add Birth of a Beauty.

2. Healer

Favorite Healer Character: Park Bong-soo
My Rating: 5 of 5

PROs:

  • Park Min-young and Ji Chang-wook star in this Korean drama. I like both of them.
  • I like the soundtracks and how they’re inserted for different scenes.
  • There are lots of Park Min-young cute moments.
  • It’s a happy ending Kdrama.

CONs:

  • There’s nothing much that I can add here.

More on Healer

Healer is probably one of the best, if not the best combination of genres for a Korean drama that I really enjoy watching.

I enjoy watching Park Min-young in more cute character roles like in this Kdrama.

I’ve watched What Is Wrong With Secretary Kim and is also a 5 of 5 stars for me but I enjoyed her character here more.

I highly recommend Healer for those who haven’t watched it yet.

5 of 5 for me as I can binge-watch the whole series and would most likely enjoy rewatching it.

More on Pinocchio

I really like this Korean drama. I don’t remember any boring episodes.

I looked forward to the next episode and it’s interesting and fun enough to watch to binge-watch it.

This is why I gave it a 5 of 5 and highly recommend Pinocchio to all Kdrama viewers.

Park Shin-hye is both cute and beautiful. You won’t regret watching her act.

The same goes with Lee Jong-suk. Both of them are on my list of favorite Kdrama actors.

Lee Yu-bi and Jang Hyun-kyu’s characters made this Kdrama more fun to watch. They give comic reliefs here and there that will make you either smile or laugh.

Pride and Prejudice Best Korean Dramas 2014

4. Pride and Prejudice

Number of Episodes: 21

AGB Nielsen Average Nationwide Viewership Rating: 10.4%
Favorite -Pride and Prejudice Character: Yoo Kwang-mi (Jung Hye-sung)
My Score: 3 of 5

PROs:

  • Has so much potential to be really good.
  • Jung Hye-sung is here.

CONs:

  • The ending looked like it was rushed.

More on Pride and Prejudice

I think I enjoyed watching this Kdrama. But it’s not memorable for me.

Choi Jin-hyuk’s character looks really cool but there were no epic moments that I can remember of him.

There are some funny scenes here and there which became the saving grace for me to continue watching the series.

Jung Hye-sung in scenes also helped with this.

I thought that this Kdrama had the potential to be amazing but it fell short for me. Even the ending looked really rushed.

I don’t think I remember what happened to all the other co-workers of the main characters.

It just suddenly ends after 3 years when the 2 leads meet up in court again as prosecutor and lawyer.

But I guess this worked since it managed to get at least 10% for its average national viewership.

I’ll still recommend watching it especially if you don’t have any good Kdramas left on your list.

Punch Best Korean Dramas 2014

5. Punch

Alternative Titles: None
Genre: Drama, Law, Politics, Romance, Thriller
Number of Episodes: 19
Original Network: Seoul Broadcasting System
Original Air Dates: December 2014 to February 2015
Lead Stars: Kim Rae-won, Kim Ah-joong
AGB Nielsen Average Nationwide Viewership Rating: 10.6%
Favorite Punch Character: None
My Score: 3 of 5

PROs:

  • Has somewhat a good ending.
  • Has great actors.
  • Good story.

CONs:

  • Somewhat has a not so happy ending.

More on Punch

I liked watching Punch. However, it didn’t have epic scenes or moments that can make it really enjoyable for me.

I’m also saddened because the main lead had to die in the end because of his illness which led to donate his heart to his wife.

The female child actor was cute and I like her acting.

Punch seems to be too serious for me but I still occasionally enjoy watching this kind of Kdramas.

I recommend Punch if you’re looking for serious political dramas.

Conclusion

There you have it. This is my list of the best Korean dramas from 2014.

How about you, do we have the same K-dramas on your list?

If you have a Korean drama that started airing from 2014 that’s not on my list, please send me a message and I’ll check it out.

Thank you!
