Here are the best anime shows from 2019. I may be biased because these are my favorite anime shows and the ones I prefer to watch.
This list includes the anime shows that have started a new season this 2019. I hope you guys will also like watching them.
In my opinion, these are the best anime in 2019.
1. The Rising of the Shield Hero aka Tate no Yūsha no Nariagari
This anime series has 25 episodes which ran from January 2019 to June 2019.
It’s something new that the main hero is a support type character who carries a shield instead of a common attack type weapon like a sword or a bow and arrow.
I hope season 2 will not take too long for The Rising of the Shield Hero.
2. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
This anime series has 26 episodes which ran from April 2019 to September 2019.
I like the main character Tanjiro who is innately kind. The action scenes are also amazingly made in this anime.
The bond between Tanjiro and Nezuko reminds me of the relationship between the Elric brothers in Fullmetal Alchemist.
I’m looking forward to Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba characters season 2. This is how you’ll know that you really liked the anime!
3. Attack on Titan 3 Part 2
This anime series has 10 episodes which ran from April 2019 to July 2019. Although this is a continuation of the 1st part of Attack on Titan 3, this portion still started this 2019.
Unlike Attack on Titan 3 Part 1, I think that there are a lot more best moments in part 2.
4. One Punch Man 2
This 2nd season of One Punch Man ran from April 2019 to July 2019. It has 12 episodes.
Who doesn’t like the overpowered Saitama? In some way, he is quite similar to Goku in Dragon Ball who looks for strong opponents that they can fight. But their characters are both naive and kind.
Just so you know, this isn’t in order. If it is, One Punch Man will be on top of my list.
5. Magi’s Grandson
This anime show aired from April 2019 to June 2019. Magi’s Grandson only has 12 episodes.
Just like any other anime who have an overpowered main character, I also like Magi’s Grandson. I like it when the good guy is beating up bad guys.
It’s also in the action and comedy genre. Whenever these 2 genres combine, it’s a must-watch for me. Hmm, maybe not if there’s too much ecchi. I don’t quite enjoy too much of it in anime.
This anime lasted for 24 episodes and ran from January 2019 to June 2019. It’s listed as a dark fantasy genre.
I honestly can’t compare this to the ones I’ve mentioned above but it is good enough for me to watch the full series. I’ll say Dororo is in between the above average and average anime that I enjoy watching.
I just noticed that the original Dororo aired in 1969.
7. Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest
Arifureta aired from July 2019 to October 2019 for 13 episodes. It’s under the fantasy and harem genre. It started as a novel from 2013 then translated to manga in 2016 before it was made into an anime.
I don’t like excessive “haremness” but this one I can tolerate. Hmm, I really like an overpowered protagonist who can beat up the antagonists.
8. DanMachi 2nd Season
The 2nd season of DanMachi aired from July 2019 to September 2019 for 12 episodes. It’s an action-adventure anime.
DanMachi is also called It It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon. This is quite a number of words so we’ll just stick to DanMachi.
As much as I like overpowered heroes, I equally like underrated or underestimated heroes who show up at the right time.
9. Demon Lord, Retry!
Demon Lord, Retry! Aired from July 2019 to September 2019 for only 12 episodes. It’s a fantasy anime that’s adapted from a novel series from 2016.
This anime is somewhat similar to Overlord. The main character is supposed to be stuck in a game with so much power. They’re also both considered a demon by the other characters in their respective stories.
You’ll probably notice that most anime on my list have “good-natured” heroes. There’s something about the heroes that I really like. Maybe I want to be one.
Sometimes the plots in these anime shows are lacking but the scenes are just very enjoyable to watch. That’s why I still added them to my list of recommended anime shows from 2019.
But I don’t limit myself to the same genres. If it interests me I’ll watch a couple of episodes and see if I look forward to watching the next episode. If not, I tend to drop the anime series.
